ROBIN WILLIAMS TO PERFORM AT TAHOE SOUTH’S MONTBLEU RESORT

An Evening of Sit Down with Robin Williams & David Steinberg: Comedic Genius and Oscar Winning Actor Appears, July 20-21

June 25, 2012 (Stateline, Nev.)Robin Williams, the comedic superstar and Oscar winning actor, will make his inaugural stand-up performance at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, July 20 -21. (http://www.montbleuresort.com). It could be the biggest celebrity weekend in memory at Tahoe South with Williams in town during the 23rd annual American Century Championship, the celebrity golf tournament across the street at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Summer just got hotter as David Steinberg, a long-time comedy favorite, will apply his refined style to balance the antics of the zany Williams as opening act at MontBleu Theater. Tickets are available at http://www.montbleuresort.com from $100.

Williams, the Academy Award-winning actor and multiple Grammy Award-winning performer, continues to add to the gamut of characters with his unparalleled imagination and improvisation. Well known for his free-associative monologues and for pointing out life's absurdities through his astute social and political observations. It was in 1978 when Williams first captured the attention of the world as "Mork from Ork" on the hit television series, Mork & Mindy, which ran on ABC for four seasons. He then made his cinematic debut in 1980 when he starred as the title character in Robert Altman's “Popeye.” Notable film credits include, Hook, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, The Birdcage, Good Will Hunting, when he won his Oscar, Patch Adams, Night at the Museum, The World According to Garp, Moscow on the Hudson, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society and The Fisher King.

Williams takes great joy in supporting causes, including touring the Middle East (four times) to help raise morale among the troops. His organization, "Comic Relief" was founded in 1986 as a non-profit to help America's homeless and to date has raised more than $50 million.

MontBleu is earning a reputation for hit comedians, including Bob Saget and Daniel Tosh, who performed earlier this year, now Williams, followed by Tracy Morgan, July 14 and “Comedians From Chelsea Lately,” July 7.

Outdoor Concert Series:

Tahoe Reggae Festival, featuring Pepper, Katchafire, J Boog, and friends, kick off MontBleu's outdoor Summer Concert Series, June 30, to bring positive vibrations against Lake Tahoe’s crystal blue backdrop.

Returning to Tahoe after a March theater performance, Sublime with Rome — the remaining members of the iconic ’90s Southern California ska, rock and punk band Sublime — will take it outdoors, July 26. They will be joined by Cypress Hill, the critically-acclaimed West Coast Cuban and Latino rap group known for churning out hits like "Insane in the Brain" and "Rock Superstar."

From humble beginnings out of a garage in Stillwater, Okla., All American Rejects shot to the top of the charts in 2003 with their self-titled album and the hit single "Swing, Swing." From that album the band secured its loyal following, produced three more albums that have sold more than 10 million CD’s worldwide. This year’s tour supports its latest album, "Kids in The Street." All American Rejects will appear on stage with Shiny Toy Guns (co-headline), Eve 6, and Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, Aug. 14.

Island soul comes to Tahoe when Jamaican reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, performs at the 4,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, Aug. 25. Inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, Cliff's contributions to reggae music have been relentless. He's best known for songs "Sitting in Limbo," "You Can Get It If You Really Want" and "Many Rivers to Cross" from the "The Harder They Come" Soundtrack.

MontBleu Theater Line-up:

For the second year, MontBleu is featuring the "Comedians From Chelsea Lately," July 7. Wollack, a regular roundtable guest, is an Emmy-winning writer and comedian with unwavering delivery. From “Last Comic Standing” and "My Names is Earl," Wolf triggers his comedic flair in everyday life. Picked as one of 12 top rising stars in Comedy by Entertainment Weekly, Jen Kirkman engages audience with landing observational-style punch lines.

Tracy Morgan, Emmy-nominated actor/comedian, who is best known for his eight seasons as a cast member on Saturday Night Live as well as the role as Tracy Jordan on the NBC series 30 Rock, will debt at MontBleu Theater on July 14. In the words of Tracy, “That’s Crazy!”

Classic chrome polished cars, rock n' roll and Lake Tahoe will make for a Hot August Nights to remember, August 3-5 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, the host site for one of the area’s most highly attended summer events. The Commodores, a funk/soul group from the ’70s and ’80s, will rev up the evening with ballad hits like “Brick House,” “Three Times a Lady” and “Easy,” Saturday, Aug. 4.

Energetic rock, reggae and hip-hop will dominate the stage with Matisyahu/Dirty Heads, Sept. 27. Matisyahu mixes reggae, hip-hop and rap with beatboxing and witty banter for a unique performance style that has earned several Grammy nominations and a massive fan base. Laced with the signature carefree SoCal attitude, the Dirty Heads deliver a blend of rock, reggae and hip-hop reminiscent of Sublime.
